Sheryl Birkhead

Sheryl Lynn Birkhead is a fanzine editor, writer, and artist. She was born, and lives, in Maryland, where she works as a veterinarian.
She began contributing to fanzines in the early 1970s, and during the mid 1970s, was the editor of The National Fantasy Fan.
During the 1970s, she became best known as a fan artist, and her distinctive illustrations have appeared in and on the covers of such fanzines as Opuntia, The Slan of Baker Street, Empties, Ash-Wing, Diversifier, and It Goes on the Shelf and many, many others. She won the Kaymar Award in 1975. With Joanne Burger, she published Yesterdays and Tomorrow.
She was nominated for the 2001 Best Fan Artist Hugo and the 2002 Best Fan Artist Hugo.
