Burroughsania

Burroughsania was an Edgar Rice Burroughs fanzine edited by Michael Moorcock in the 1950s. Jim Cawthorn contributed art.

Its first issue designates it a "New Series". An editorial explains:

As you know Burroughsania had to be incorporated with Book Collector's News as not enough people were subscribing However, owing to the help of several "red hot" fans and an advertisement in the Exchange and Mart the mag. is back on the map.

Sometime around 1960 Dick Ellingsworth took over the title and published a single issue in a very limited distribution "because one of the key stencils, a full-page illo by Jim Cawthorn, disintegrated after only about a dozen copies" (Ellingsworth in Prolapse 9, November 2007). This was seemingly number 19 as an article, "The Complete Enchanter" by Moorcock, was published in Vector 6 (January 1960) where it says it is appearing "simultaneously" in Burroughsiana [sic] 19.

The British Fanzine Bibliography also lists as single issue Burroughsiana, the first and only issue of a new series, in Spring 1963, again edited by Ellingsworth but with no further details.

An article in Burroughs Bulletin 93 (Winter 2015) seems to suggest that Burroughsiana "was always its intended spelling" and Burroughsania was "due to a mistake". The title Burroughsiana was later resurrected by the British ERB Society.
