(1943 – August 10, 2010)

Richard Ellingsworth was a British fan active from around 1957 into the 1970s. He was a member of the Science Fiction Club of London and attended Eastercons from 1960 into the mid-1970s.

He first encountered fandom through the pages of Tarzan Adventures (August 31, 1957), a chance purchase after missing his bus. The comic included a "Sojan the Swordsman" story by Michael Moorcock and a couple of pieces on fandom, including photos from the recent London Worldcon. Ellingsworth had been aware of fandom from US prozines but had previously thought it a purely North American phenomenon. He began a regular correspondence with Moorcock and produced a carbonzine, although it doesn't seem to be mentioned in the British Fanzine Bibliography.

After leaving school at Easter in 1959 Ellingsworth started working in London where Moorcock introduced him to The Globe. He duplicated Moorcock's A Fanzine Called Eustace and the sixth issue of the BSFA's Vector even though he wasn't a member, and in 1963 he took over Moorcock's Burroughsiana although only produced a single issue.

Ellingsworth attended the BSFA Convention, 1960, sharing a room with Don Geldart, and around 1962 became one of the residents at the Kingdon Road Slan Shack at 5 Kingdon Road, West Hampstead. One of the other residents was Diane Goulding. They would marry in 1964 or 1965.
