Nuneaton is a town in the English county of Warwickshire to the east of Birmingham. In fannish terms it's significant for its role in the early days of UK fandom as the home of the 22nd (and third British) chapter of the Science Fiction League. Founded in 1935, its members included Maurice K. Hanson, Dennis Jacques, Maurice T. Crowley and D. R. Smith. Their clubzine was Novae Terrae, the first British fanzine. The Nuneaton group broke up in August 1937 leaving Smith as the only remaining fan in the town.
