Aporrheta
Aporrhēta (Old Greek for "Forbidden"; nicknamed Ape or Apē; on the cover the accent was arguably closer to acute é, on the typewriter it was emulated by overtyping the "e" with a slash) edited by Sandy Sanderson has been called one of the best British fanzines of the late 50s – the last issue notes it "was recently voted the best British fanzine in both the Fanac and Skyrack poll". His landlord and Inchmery Fandom fellow Vin¢ Clarke did some writing (one of his columns was "Apidiascope"), but also the excellent repro (mimeo) which characterized the fanzine; in Ex-Inchmery Fan Diary, Clarke characterised it as "the only link I had maintained with fan-publishing in the last two weary years, [i. e. since daughter's birth] and on which I had spent so many hours of spare (!) time". Covers were by ATom.
In June 1960 Vince's wife Joy Clarke left him for Sanderson, wishing to move to US, and Aporrheta imploded (even though Sanderson reportedly "was thinking of continuing" it).
