(???? – )

David 'Shep' Kirkbride is a fan and fanartist from Carlisle in Cumbria active from the 1970s into at least the 1990s. He was a member of the Carlisle and District SF Group.

Kirkbride's artwork appeared in numerous fanzines including Matrix, Critical Wave, Crystal Ship and Empties. An art portfolio appeared in London SF (1977). He also produced T-shirt art for Intersection, the 1995 Worldcon.

A fanzine, Quibble, appeared annually from 1977 to 1979. It was described by Rob Hansen in Then as, 'litho [and] lavishly illustrated, it reflected its editor's interest in art'. The British Fanzine Bibliography attributes the title to Shep Kirkbride alone but a capsule review of #3 in Matrix #24 (June 1979) gives the editors as 'Jean and David Kirkbride' so it's possible all issues should be jointly credited.
