John Thiel, an Indiana fan, pubbed his first fanzine in the 1950s at age 12. His current title is Pablo Lennis.
He belongs to the N3F and edits their recently revived fanzine Ionisphere. He is a member of N'APA and founded the apa SLAPHAPA in 1977 and was a member of the Lafayette Interstellar Association. He was a member of The Cult. He published An Index to Popular American Fanzines.
In 2017, he was elected to the N3F Directorate and named its Chairman. He was re-elected to the Directorate in 2018, but is no longer chairman.
He was the N3F's Kaymar Award winner in 2017. In 2018 he was appointed head of the N3F's Fandom Introductory Bureau.
