(???? – )

Diane Goulding (later Diane Ellingsworth and sometimes known as Nell) was a fan active in the 1960s and 1970s. She was a member of Group 65. She attended LXICON, the 1961 Eastercon, when she had an address in Maidstone. She later moved to the Kingdon Road slan shack in West Hampstead, London and became a regular at The Globe. She also attended or was a member of Ronvention, Bullcon and Repetercon.

At the latter she was we can only hope a willing participant in the Hum-&-Sway ceremony, as described by Langdon Jones in Quotecards Anyone?:

Then the climax of the ceremony came. Nell Goulding was selected as the Sacrificial Virgin, and was laid-out on the floor. I think it was Pete Taylor who stood over her, with sword upraised, for about a minute. Then down flashed the sword, out went the lights, and they came on again to reveal an expired Nell, one of the most delectable sacrificial corpses I have ever seen. To resurrect her, we started humming and swaying with redoubled vigour and booze kindly supplied by Norman Shorrock. And with the revival of Nell, the ceremony drew to an end.

She married fellow fan Dick Ellingsworth in 1964 or 1965 and they continued to attend conventions until at least Tynecon in 1974.
