Anders Bellis

Anders Giorgos Bellis, a Swedish fan who became active in 1976, was one of the OEs of GAPA and a member of the Scandinavian SF Association and of FAPA. Bellis — he disdains his first name and prefers to go only by his surname — has been a constant and extremely both active and vocal member of Swedish fandom since his first appearance at the 1976 ScanCon.
In addition to publishing an astounding number of fanzines, two of which were focal points in Sweden (the — almost — weekly newszine Vheckans Ävfentyr, edited with Ahrvid Engholm, 1977–80, and his personalzine Kolon, published with some 20 issues from 1982 through 1987), he has also been a strongly opinionated presence at every Swedish convention since the late 1970s, known for his auctioneer performances and bheer consumption with its adherent stridency of argumentation.
Bellis has worked as a typesetter and translator, not least of many of Lee Child's crime novels, but has also been a film reviewer online and a very visible part of both Stockholm and Athens (he is half-Greek and has lived there part time for many years) fandom. Long working on fan projects together with Ahrvid Engholm; the pair fell out first in 1980, then again and definitely in 1988, when Bellis won the SEFF contest and Johan Schimanski, favored to win by Engholm, lost. This developed into the longest and most brutal feud in Swedish fandom, and led to a a definite split between the two. Both are still active, but no longer on speaking terms.
