Bill Harding
(February 17, 1927 – June 3, 2010)
William Renny Harding Jr. was an fan from Buffalo active from the 1950s. He attended Chicon II, the 1952 Worldcon, and Coroncon in London in 1953, the latter likely while he was studying at the University of Bristol. Fred Robinson reported seeing 'the interesting spectacle of Bill Harding with grey Homburg, beard, and tightly rolled umbrella, riding pillion on the [motor]bike – with Bert and his beard up front it was a sight worth seeing'[1]. He was a member of the Buffalo Fantasy League[2].
Harding served in the navy from 1944 to 1946 and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1949 with a BS in Chemistry. During his long career as an engineer, he was awarded 14 patents for his inventions while at Westinghouse and Carborundum. He was also an amateur magician and a member of The Magic Circle.
