Bobby Gear discovered fandom in 1981. She was a Baltimore area fan, married to Marty Gear, and active in BSFS and the Costumer's Guild. She was a member of BSFS and served as Treasurer. In 1998, she co-chaired the BucConeer Masquerade and worked as a judge for a wide variety of masquerades over the years. She was nominated for the 1986 Best Fanzine Hugo for the Greater Columbia Fantasy Costumers Guild Newsletter. As a costumer, she appeared in many masquerades.
