John R. Blaker is a BArea convention fan active since the 1970s. His first convention was OakLaCon, Westercon 28 in 1975, and he has been attending Worldcons since Iguanacon in 1978. He has worked on numerous cons, including many Baycons and Silicons, and as Division Head of Events at ConJosé, the 2002 Worldcon, for which he was on the bidcom.

He is a Master-level costumer, and has been part of many prize-winning masquerade ensembles, including at Torcon 3 (Best in Show), Chicon 2000 (Best in Show), and ConFrancisco (Most Original). He frequently works cons as part of the masquerade catcher crew.

John was one of the original members of BASFA and belongs to Little Men and the Costumer's Guild West. He has contributed to such fanzines as YHOS.

A native of Berkeley, CA, in mundane life, he is a priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland with a church in Richmond, CA, and also serves as a hospital chaplain. He has sometimes conducted Mass at conventions.
