Eastercon 23, Mancon 4, Chessmancon, was held over Easter 1972 in Chester, UK. The GoH was Larry Niven. While the name was chosen to honor both Chester, where it was held, and Manchester (where the committee lived), the committee also add a chess tournament to honor the name!
The committee were Tony Edwards, Harry Nadler, Bill Burns, Chuck Partington, Norman Shorrock, Dave Britton, Eddie Jones.
