Chicon 8, the 80th Worldcon and eighth in Chicago, will be held September 1–5, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. GoHs: Charles de Lint, Floyd Norman, Edie Stern, Joe Siclari and Erle Korshak. Toastmasters: Annalee Newitz and Charlie Jane Anders. Sadly, Korshak died in August 2021.
It was formed from the Chicago in 2022 bid, and won the con at the 2022 Site Selection conducted by CoNZealand, defeating Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It will host the 2024 Worldcon Site Selection and 2022 Hugos. The convention announced that it will not exercise its option to run the 1947 Retro Hugo Awards, but will instead have a 1946 Fiction and Fandom Retrospective Program Track, coordinated by Cora Buhlert.
