A midwestern fan, member of First Fandom, founder of Little Monsters of America, member of the Midwest Nomads, member of the Alien Science-Fantasy Club, was one of the founders of Pulpcon and the founder of the Pulp Era Amateur Press Society (PEAPS). Chair of Illwiscon. He used the pen name of Plato Jones. He was publisher of Who Killed Science Fiction? and Why Is a Fan?.
