Robert Jordan was the pseudonym of author James Oliver Rigney, Jr. He used the pen name for fantasy novels, including his bestselling The Wheel of Time series, for which he is best known.
He also wrote historical fiction as Reagan O'Neal, and westerns as Jackson O'Reilly. He was married to editor Harriet McDougall.
