Chicon 8, the 80th Worldcon and eighth in Chicago, will be held September 1–5, 2022, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago. GoHs: Charles de Lint, Floyd Norman, Edie Stern, Joe Siclari and Erle Korshak.

Erle Korshak died in August 2021. In March 2022, de Lint was forced to withdraw and Chicon "released" him so that he might be a Worldcon GoH at another time.

In November 2021, the convention announced the addition of three Special Guests: Dr. Eve L. Ewing, Gene Ha, and Eric Wilkerson.

The convention will be chaired by Helen Montgomery and the toastmasters will be Annalee Newitz and Charlie Jane Anders.

It was formed from the Chicago in 2022 bid, and won the con at the 2022 Site Selection conducted by CoNZealand, defeating Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It will host the 2023 NASFiC Site Selection, the 2024 Worldcon Site Selection and the 2022 Hugos.

The convention announced that it will not exercise its option to run the 1947 Retro Hugo Awards, but will instead have a 1946 Fiction and Fandom Retrospective Program Track, coordinated by Cora Buhlert.
