Wendall Ing was a longtime member of NESFA, a Fellow of NESFA and Deputy Treasurer of Noreascon II, the 1980 Worldcon. He was a collector of many things -- once when the NESFA Displacement Authority was helping him move and people were lugging heavy boxes up the stairs, someone asked him, "What's in these? Your rock collection?" He answered "Yes."

He rarely took charge of anything, but was always helping, and exerted a calming influence on everyone around him.

In real life, he was an electrical engineer.
