Vancouver in '81 was a losing bid for the 1981 Westercon which lost to Sacramento in '81.
In 1979, shortly before Westercon 32 at which the vote was to be held, the bid announced that it had lost its proposed site at the University of BC Conference Centre and was moving to the Holiday Inn Harbourside.
