We had a birth year of 1937; I don’t know where it came from, but it is wrong if he was 13 in 1953, so I removed it. It’s always possible that Silverberg got his age wrong or misremembered what con the poker game happened at, so I’m not going to assume 1940, either.
It seems possible that the 1937 year (and the death date, though one day off) came from obits of David A. Ish, newspaper publisher. I cannot tell if it’s the same guy. http://newfillmore.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/2007_11.pdf
