Genre author Suzanne Collins was born in Hartford, Connecticut.
She completed her bachelor of arts degree from Indiana University in 1985 with a double major in theater and telecommunications. In 1989, she earned her M.F.A. in dramatic writing from the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
She is known primarily for The Hunger Games, the first book of a trilogy by Collins.
As a result of the popularity of The Hunger Games books, Collins was named one of Time magazine's most influential people of 2010.
