Styx

Styx was an apazine published for OMPA by various hands.

The first issue was produced by Ron Bennett and according to APAthy 'with No. 2 Bennett decided Styx should have editors in rotation'. This implies Bennett also produced the second, and that's how it's credited in APAthy, but #2 is actually the work of Archie Mercer and in an editorial he calls for a new editor #3. It seems Jan Jansen stepped up and while this isn't absolutely explicit from #3 itself it's confirmed by Archive #10 ('Archive Between Meals' supplement) where in a comment on Styx #3 Mercer says, 'I'm glad you cooperated in following up MY issue, Jan'. He also gives the impression that despite this Jansen was not staying true to the idea, and this is further confirmed in a comment on Styx #4, 'In which all pretence at my cherished continuity vanishes. Shame on you, Ellis. A nice pleasant little zine – but not what I was hoping Styx would develop into.' Mercer also called on Bennett as 'you launched the swine, your comments on subsequent developments would not come amiss'.

Whether because Mercer felt Styx had deviated from its expected path or for some other reason, there were no more issues.
