Sketch Tables

A sketch table was a table (often in the art show) on which sketches donated to the benefit of the convention were laid (frequently in haphazard heaps) for sale. The sketches were usually preliminaries and interior illustrations, mostly from the prozines and often by the major artists in the field. If their estimated selling price was too small (often as little as $1) to warrant auctioning, they would go on the sketch table to be sold first-come, first-served.
