Sandusky, Ohio, the county seat of Erie County, is set on the shores of Lake Erie in the northern part of the state, roughly midway between Toledo and Cleveland. It’s home to a huge outdoor amusement park, Cedar Point.
From 1957 through the 1980s, Octocon was held there during the off-season, taking advantage of low hotel rates and the proximity to fans in Detroit, Toledo, Cleveland and Cincinnati, who jointly founded the relaxacon.
