Peon

A fanzine with 38 issues published by Charles Lee Riddle from 1948 to 1957 -- astonishingly, while Riddle was also serving a career in the Navy.
Peon itself was unusual in several ways. To begin with, Riddle launched the fanzine by sending copies to 300 fans -- a huge number for the time -- and got almost 100 LoCs in response. It paid a dollar for the best letter in each issue and used an odd paper size, just a bit smaller than standard (the US Government special standard for that era of 8"x10.5".)
