(February 1, 1936[1] – late October, 2019)

Paul Caleb Turner was a California fan active mainly in the 1950s–80s, though he attended conventions as late as 2018. He was a member of the SRPL and of LASFS. He was the originator in 1963 of the LASFS Building Fund (which resulted in the LASFS getting a clubhouse a decade later) and served as a Director and President of the club.

His friend Suzanne Horn recalled: “He was well known in the science fiction community for his famous ‘Salons’, private parties in which he invited brilliant science fiction writers to mingle with renowned scientists from JPL to share ideas and inspiration.”

Paul was married to Ellie Turner from 1957 to 1968; they had two children. He married Neola Caveny in 1984[2]; that marriage also ended in divorce. He spent his later years in a hermitlike life in the Kern County desert, near Johannesburg, CA, where he was found dead in October 2019.
