The Newport SF Group, more formally, The South Wales SF Group or SWSFG, first met in the Greyhound pub in Newport, Wales in February 1977. Present were Rob Hansen, Bryn Fortey, and Mike Collins. Later in the year the group was joined by Dai Price.
Collins moved to London in May 1978 and out of fandom. Later that year the group was joined by Alun Harries.
