Nancy Pooley
(???? –)
Nancy Pooley was a fan from Wirral, Cheshire in the UK active in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She was a member of the Liverpool Group, where she was introduced by Jeff Collins. She attended Cytricon IV and Brumcon, respectively the 1958 and 1959 Eastercons.
Pooley joined the Liverpool Group in 1958 and Space Diversions 10 reported:
We welcome Nancy Pooley, demure and tenderhearted (Miss Pooley has been known to weep at an Audie Murphy Western when Audie got the gun – Christian charity can go no further!).
The same issue listed group officials for the coming year while other members were also given roles, in Pooley's case "continuity".
In "Disappointment at Brumcon!" in Prolapse 4 (December 2006) Peter Weston said:
Ina Shorrock and her friend Nancy Pooley came in even cheekier outfits as "To Serve Man", with their midriffs marked "For the Use of LASFAS men only."
In Femizine 13 (Spring 1960) Shorrock said of her friend, "Nancy is the type who brings out the protective instinct in men."
For a brief description by Eric Bentcliffe, who was, apparently, sweet on her, see Waldo 1 (December 1959), online here.
