Maxim Jakubowski is a publisher, bookseller, translator, anthologist and author writing in both French and English. Between 1988 and 2009 he ran the Murder One bookshop in central London, which specialised in mysteries. Between 1991 and 2005 this incorporated the New Worlds sf outlet in the basement.
His website lists 100 anthologies edited in various genres. The Science Fiction Encyclopedia says that he began publishing fiction of genre interest in English with "Lines of White on a Sullen Sea" for New Worlds 194 (September/October 1969) and he was one of the magazine's writers who attended Phun City in 1970.
He was a judge for the Arthur C. Clarke Award from 1989 to 1992, chairing for the last two years.
