J. W. Beck was a fan from London briefly active in the 1930s.
He was an attendee at the first gathering of the Ilford Science Literary Circle on October 27, 1930, and thus at the first UK fan group meeting. He was also present at the January 1931 meeting and was described by Wally Gillings in the Ilford Recorder newspaper as ‘a valuable member of the Circle [who] can always be relied upon to propose a sound argument’. He may have attended further meetings but appears not to have subsequently troubled the history of fandom.
