Hall Party

An impromptu fan gathering in a convention hotel hallway.

Hall parties usually occur outside overcrowded room parties or con suites, where fans stop to chat, often sitting on the floor and impeding passerby. Eventually, they break up and move along or are dispersed by hotel or con security as a violation of fire codes, only to re-form later.

Back when smoking was permitted in hotel rooms, hall parties provided a social place for fresh air.
