A hoax award announced in a press release (from Teaneck, NJ). The release was sent to Philip José Farmer (who invented the hack SF writer, Kilgore Trout) in early 1975.
Awards were (supposedly): "Best Hack Novel of 1975": Mote in God's Eye by Larry Niven and Jerry Pournelle "Best Hack Short Story of 1975": "In the House of the Double Minds" by Robert Silverberg "Most Promising Newcomer": Christopher Priest for Inverted World "Grand Master Hack": Barry N. Malzberg
No one ever c/l/a/i/m/e/d/ c/r/e/d/i/t/ admitted to it.
