Completely unscientifically, we declare that cats are fandom's favorite pets. There have been many Big Name Cats in fandom, including:

Peggy Gillespie, a member of First Fandom.
Bill Donaho’s Habakkuk, for whom he named his fanzine.
Jackson Sims, an athletic Siamese who attended conventions with Pat and Roger Sims.
Bill Bowers' black Responsibility.
Roger Weddall's Typo, who won a controversial Ditmar Award for Best Fannish Cat at the Australian Natcon SunCon in 1991.
Constantinople, a three-legged cat who spawned a convention.
Maxwell Silver Hammer Smith, Birman owner of Dick and Leah Smith, described in "Planet Catnip: My Life with an Alien Cat" by Leah A. Zeldes in the anthology Cat Women: Female Writers on their Feline Friends.

Mary Elizabeth Counselman, a Weird Tales author who collected black cats.
Joni Stopa, whose many cats were one reason so many Wilcon attendees slept outdoors in tents.
