Bob Richardson Memorial Award for Most Authentic Heroic Fantasy Costume(s)

The Bob Richardson Memorial Award for Most Authentic Heroic Fantasy Costume(s) was described by Peter Weston, writing in Prolapse #12 (August 2008), as 'Britain' forgotten award'. It was named for Bob Richardson, one of the founders of the Knights of St. Fantony, who had died in 1963. Weston believed it had only been presented twice, in 1965 and 1966.

It was awarded at least four times:

• 1965: Loncon II, Betty and Ian Peters as John Carter and Dejah Thoris (reported in Skyrack #83).
• 1966: Yarcon, Ted Tubb 'in villainous space operatic guise' (reported in Skyrack #88).
• 1968 Thirdmancon, Bram Stokes as Elric (reported in Crabapple #8
• 1969 Galactic Fair 1969, Bram Stokes for an unspecified costume which may have been simply a black scarf. Stokes claimed that in 1970 he would be giving the Bram Stokes Award (reported in Crabapple #8

It's unclear if an award was given in 1967 at Briscon or if it was ever presented after 1969.

Weston described the award as 'best' but Ron Bennett writing contemporaneously in Skyrack #83 used 'most authentic'.
