Baycon 2001 was held May 25–28, 2001, at the San Jose DoubleTree Hotel in San Jose, CA. The theme was "All Your Monolith Are Belong To Us!!!]]". Author GoH was Rudy Rucker, Artist GoH was Bill Hartmann, Fan GoHs were Kathryn and James Stanley Daugherty, Special Guest was Poppy Z. Brite, and Toastmaster was Amy-Elyse Patterson. Chair was C. Wolfgang Coe.
The event included the first "Towel Day," a tribute to Douglas Adams, who had died just two weeks before the convention. The con's charity was the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Attendance was 1969 members.
