Audrey Eversfield
(???? – )
Audrey B. Eversfield was a UK fan and a member of the Cheltenham Group in the late 1950s and early 1960s. She was a founder member of the Knights of St. Fantony and of the BSFA.
Eversfield attended Cytricon III in 1957 and wrote, using the transparent pseudonym "ABE", one of only four known conreports of the event for Spasmodic 1. She had at that point only been in fandom for a few months. She was founding member number 43 of the BSFA in 1958, appearing on the first membership list that was published in Vector 2, which she helped to stencil.
Subsequently, she was a fixture of Eastercons and some of the big fan parties involving Cheltenham people until Skyrack 48 (December 17, 1962) reported that she had moved to Paris She was still able to attend Bullcon, the 1963 Eastercon in Peterborough. She was later listed as a member of Loncon II in 1965, the only member with a French address, but she isn't mentioned in reports and so it's not known if she attended. She seemed to disappear from fandom after that although she was still listed at a Paris address in Ron Bennett's Directory of Science Fiction Fandom for 1966.
Geoff Winterman in his recollections of the Cheltenham Circle said:
Audrey Eversfield was Secretary then, always busy making order out of chaos. I think at some point I fell in love with her but she went off to live in Paris! I did give her a ride on my Lambretta though.
