The 1969 Open ESFA was held March 2, 1969 in Newark, NJ. The GoH was L. Sprague de Camp who was introduced by Sam Moskowitz by comparing him to Mark Twain. It's theme was "Looking Backwards". Attendance was 127 which was typical, but this Open ESFA was crowded because the room they normally used had been trashed the night before by a fraternity party.
The program included:
- A talk by the Amazing Randi on psychic beliefs
- A talk by Hal Clement on galactic civilizations
- L. Sprague de Camp on the development of the sword
- Two panel discussions on H. P. Lovecraft
(Sounds like fun!)
