Álvaro de Sousa Holstein, is a Portuguese fan, born in the city of Porto, who edited the first Portuguese fazine, Nebulosa, in 1983, which won a European award in 1985 in Fayence, France and edited several others fanzines and anthologies (BIN, Fénix fanzine, Fénix anthologies, Fições Phantasticas and Regiana Magna) until today, as well as writing the only science fiction and fantasy bibliography in Portugal, Bibliografia da Ficção Científca e Fantasia Portuguesa which won a European prize in 1987 in Montpellier, France. He was a correspondent for the fanzines Transito, Ópcion and BEM (Spain), Nuevomendo (Argentina), Shards of Babel (Netherlands), Iskateli (Japan) and Somnium (Brazil) and associate editor of the Spanish fanzine Fandom (Spain).

He produced and presented for a year the only Portuguese radio program exclusively about science fiction and fantasy, on Rádio Caos, Porto, Portugal (1987-1988). He has participated in several Eurocons, Hispacons and other conferences and has given lectures in Portugal and abroad. He has short stories, poetry and articles published in his country and in Spain, England, Brazil, Japan, the Netherlands and the USA and maintains several blogs (https://memoriasfc.blogspot.com/; https://ouroboroslair.blogspot.com/ )
