(1932 – March 23, 2003)
Peter B. Bell was a UK fan from Glasgow active from the 1940s. He was a member of the British Fantasy Library (BFL) from 1947 and of the Science Fantasy Society (SFS) where he was the representative for the Scottish and Northern Ireland area. He was a member of Intersection and Interaction, the 1995 and 2005 Worldcons, although obviously did not attend the latter.
In his 'I Remember Me' column, Walt Willis described being contacted by Bell in his SFS role:
I heard from my own Gauleiter, one Peter Bell of Glasgow. He was 'glad to see that we’ve got such a flourishing fmz going in our group already.' I eagerly offered to help by printing announcements and advertisements, but heard nothing further until February, when Bell apologised for the delay, but he had 'been engaged in trying to form a fan group here in Glasgow.' I had a brief mental picture of Peter wandering the streets of Glasgow ringing his bell and accosting passers-by.
His obituary in Ansible #190 described him as 'long-time Glasgow fan, con-goer and collector of sf'.
