(???? -- )
Joan Bowers was an Ohio fan active in the 1960s and ’70s. She married Bill Bowers and published the first issues of the fanzine Outworlds with him in the early 1970s.
Outworlds was nominated for the 1971 Best Fanzine Hugo, but by then her interest in the zine, and her husband, had lapsed. Possibly due in part to a miscarriage she suffered in February of that year, the couple separated, and later divorced, and Joan subsequently gafiated. She is credited as co-publisher in some later issues but there’s no evidence of her actual involvement.
With Susan Wood Joan organized the Mae Strelkov's Friends Fund.
