Discordianism

Discordianism, which is either an aburdist joke pretending to be a religion, or an absurdist religion pretending to be a joke, came into fantheology in the wake of The Illuminatus! Trilogy, three sf novels by Robert Shea and Robert Anton Wilson, first published in 1975.
Discordians believe chaos is as important as order. Their principal text is the Principia Discordia, Or: How I Found Goddess And What I Did To Her When I Found Her, Wherein is Explained Absolutely Everything Worth Knowing About Absolutely Anything; The Magnum Opiate of Malaclypse the Younger written by Greg Hill with Kerry Wendell Thornley in 1963, the two working under the pseudonyms Malaclypse the Younger and Omar Khayyam Ravenhurst.
