Though primarily a mystery writer, Alaskan author Dana Stabenow began her writing career in 1991 with a science fiction trilogy, the Star Svensdotter sequence.
Her mysteries frequently feature references to sf novels her characters are reading, including works by lesser known authors such as F. M. Busby and Steven Gould.
