Hugh John Ellis was a UK fan from Barrow-in-Furness active in the 1940s. He was a member of the British Fantasy Society (BFS).

Ellis was a subscriber to Futurian War Digest from around March 1941. In July he was reported as 'join[ing] the gallant ranks of the bombed-out' and moved to a new address. He joined the BFS in 1942. He was expected at the first Norcon over New Year 1943–4 but didn't turn up.
