Joe Staton, a Southern fanartist whose cartoons and illos appeared in several fanzines during the 1960s, was a member of SFPA (of which he served as OE).
He started working for Charlton Comics in 1971 and also did a cover for Fantastic, illustrating a story by another fan-turned-pro, rich brown. He had a successful career as a comic book artist.
His publishing house was Insulated Dragon.
Joe was born in North Carolina, grew up in Tennessee and went to college in Kentucky before moving to New York, where he has lived for over 40 years. He appears regularly at comics cons.
