James H. “Jim” O'Meara was a Chicago fan who was Vice-chairman of Chicon III in 1962 and one of the early partners in Advent:Publishers. He was part of CHIAC and half of Joe-Jim. He wrote “Requiem for a Fake Fan.”

He took many convention photographs. He may have been first to hypothesize that most fen are first or only children.
