Rusty
Revision as of 05:14, 22 February 2023 by Leah Zeldes Smith (talk | contribs)
Coined by Dennis Lynch, a rusty is a unit of measurement used to compare one's active fannish life to Rusty Hevelin's. While Rusty was alive, it was a sliding scale, but with his passing, a full rusty is now defined as 70 years, the number of years from his first to his final convention, 1941–2011. (The rusty doesn’t subtract for the period Hevelin was gafiated, from 1948–65).
Your fan life is measured as a portion of rusties. Divide the years you have been going to cons by 70.
