A United States pro editor, and critic, Kathryn Cramer has worked for the Virginia Kidd Agency, and for several software companies. She co-founded The New York Review of Science Fiction in 1988 and has been part of its nominations for the Best Semiprozine Hugo in 1988–2009. With her late husband, David G. Hartwell, whom she married in 1997, she co-edited two series of Year's Best anthologies.

She is the daughter of physicist John Cramer.
