(April 7, 1951 – )

Janis Ian (née Janis Eddy Fink) was a longtime sf reader and world-famous folksinger when she made contact with fandom. She met author Anne McCaffrey, who encouraged her to attend Worldcon, and began corresponding with author and fan Mike Resnick, who added his persuasion and invited her to collaborate on a story with him.

She began writing sf, attended Millennium Philcon in 2001 and has attended occasional cons since.

In 2019, Ian donated a collection of some 200 sf books, many autographed and by women, to The John Hay Library at Brown University.
