Jack Dann, an American writer born in Binghamton, NY, is best known for his SF. He is also an editor and a writing teacher. He has lived in Australia since 1994. He was married first to Jeanne Van Buren Dann and since 1995 to Janeen Webb. He was a member of the Guilford Gafia.

He has published over 70 books, in the majority of cases as editor or co-editor (frequently with Gardner Dozois) of story anthologies in the SF, fantasy, and horror genres.

The cover layout of his novel The Man Who Melted led to the creation of the game The Man Who Melted Jack Dann.
