Joe Staton, a Southern fan artist whose cartoons appeared in several fanzines during the 1960s, was a member of SFPA (of which he served as OE).

He started working for Charlton Comics in mid-1960s and also did a cover for Fantastic, illustrating a story by another fan-turned-pro, rich brown. He went on to a successful career as a comic book artist.

His publishing house was Insulated Dragon.
